This qualification is an ideal additional qualification for those aged 13 + years of age who would like to improve their knowledge of nutrition for health .. It can be taught on a weekly/intensive basis and works well either as an after-school or as a timetabled curriculum subject.
This qualification measures and recognizes the competence of an individual to explore and analyze their own informed choices and make positive changes to improve wellbeing and to develop good nutritional habits.

This qualification embraces the core themes and some of the messages promoted by the healthier schools standard at various key stages, primarily in areas of:

Qualification overview
Candidates will need to analyze their current nutritional intake then identify and create a strategy for improvement. Learning outcomes will include:

» The role of macro-nutrients in the diet
Links with the UK National Curriculum
This qualification may be delivered within the existing curriculum as part of the Personal Social Health Education (PSHE). It is also relevant to students following GCSE's in Physical Education or those wishing to progress onto BTEC 1st diploma courses.The nutrition for health qualification provides a level 2 knowledge relevant for other qualifications, including: Central YMCA Qualifications Level 2 and 3. Health Related Fitness (BTEC Advanced Level) Human Physiology (BTEC 1st Diploma Level 1) and planning for sports coaching (OCR and BTEC 1st diploma Level 1) The additional accreditation can improve the options open to students progressing to further training and /or employment.
