Dancing In The Park

                                       Dancing in the Park is held on Monday evenings in summer in an outdoor setting.

Dates in 2019 are:  Dec  2, 9, 16, and 23;

and for 2020 are:  Jan  6, 13, and 20.

Venue:  Stage 88 in Commonwealth Park.

This is a free community event to which everyone is welcome. However, as we are now being charged for use of Stage 88, a gold coin donations bucket will be out to help defray this cost.

Beginning at 6.45pm, the dancing goes until dusk.  Live music (all musicians welcome and encouraged to come and play – please note that there is no power, so acoustic or battery power only).

No dance experience required – all dances taught and called.

Join other dancers, callers and musicians for a BYO everything picnic before the dancing – under the vine covered pergola near Regatta Point (tables, chairs, water and BBQ there) from 5.45pm.

Callers for the evenings, and the dance types to be included, will be (subject to change):

December 2: Mark Simmons and Bob Buckley – Bush and perhaps a dance or two from other styles for variety

December 9: Colin Towns – Bush, English Country, Contra

December 16: Jim Williams – Bavarian, plus Mark and Bob as above

December 23: Ian Bull – Bush, English Country, Historical

January 6: Bruce Clark – Scottish, plus Colin as above

January 13: Roger Gifford – Scandinavian and Contra

January 20: Final evening Party Night (bring a plate to share after the dance): Mark and other callers – a variety of what’s gone before, and possibly something completely different!

Stage 88 is covered, so dancing will go ahead come rain (could we be so lucky?) or shine.
