Dancing in the Park is held on Monday evenings in summer in an outdoor setting.
Dates in 2018 are: Dec 3, 10, and 17
and in 2019 are: Jan 7, 14, and 21
While this is a free community event to which everyone is welcome, due to the NCA now charging for use of the Stage we would welcome a gold coin donation towards the cost.
Beginning at 6.45pm, the dancing goes until dark. Live music (all musicians welcome and encouraged to come and play – please note that there is no power, so acoustic only).
No experience required – all dances taught and called.
Join other dancers, callers and musicians for a BYO everything picnic before the dancing – under the pergola near Regatta Point (tables, chairs and BBQ there) from 5.45pm.
Callers for the evenings, and the dance types to be included, are expected to be:
December 3: Mark Simmons – Bush and perhaps a dance or two from other styles for variety
December 10: Colin Towns – Bush, Contra, English Country and perhaps more
December 17: Roger Gifford – Scandinavian and Contra, plus Mark with some Bush dancing
January 7: Derek Synnott – Scottish, plus Mark with some Bush dancing
January 14: Ian Bull – Bush and perhaps a couple of dances from other styles
January 21: Final evening Party Night (bring a plate to share after the dance): Mark Simmons and other volunteers – Bush and who knows what else
OUR THANKS GO TO THE OFFICE OF DR ANDREW LEIGH MP, FEDERAL MEMBER FOR FENNER, FOR HELPING US OBTAIN AN AFFORDABLE RATE FOR THE USE OF STAGE 88.
