Monaro Folk Society 50th Anniversary

2020 heralds the 50th year of MFS. We are planning to make a splash with our events this year and invite all members and non-members alike to be a part of this.

There is a heap of planning and work to be done, but here is a taste of what will be happening.  Watch this space for developments!

March 7               Gala Anniversary Ball at the Albert Hall.

This event has been devised by Roni and Adrian Giacobetti to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary and will include dancing and a music session.

The day will commence with New Vogue dancing from 10.00am until 3.00pm.

Then there’ll be a session for musicians, planned for late afternoon.

.                                     In the evening will be the Gala Ball, from 7.30pm. Formal attire, with a dance program to be published here and music by the Bush Capital Band. (While there will be limited, or no, walk-throughs at the Ball, dances are being taught at Monday night Workshops prior to the Ball, and also included in the February 2nd Saturday and Dancers’ Dances.)

March 28            50th Anniversary celebration at the Yarralumla Woolshed.

A full day’s program is planned, with different dance and music groups within MFS doing demonstrations and join in activities.

This will include a Kids Bush Dance during the afternoon.

March 28            Shearers Ball at the Yarralumla Woolshed

A slightly dressy evening bush dance with music by the Bush Capital Band

September 26    Colonial Ball at the Albert Hall

Our annual formal flagship event with a dance program to be published.
