The Colonial Ball 2021 has been cancelled due to the COVID situation in the ACT, NSW and VIC, and related restrictions.

Saturday 25th September

7:30pm – 11:30pm, doors open 7pm

Caller: John Gardiner-Garden

Band:  Earthly Delights

Theme: Flowers, Fans and Bows – feel free to interpret this any way you wish!

Venue: Folk Dance Canberra Hall FDC Hall, 114 Maitland Street, Hackett, ACT (click for location map).

The Ball program will feature great music and dances from 19th century Australian sources.

Dress for the Ball will be Colonial / early 1900’s evening dress wear, or after five – see also the theme above.
(For ideas on how others have dressed for previous Balls, see the Colonial Ball page)

Due to current Covid restrictions and the uncertainty as to when they might be lifted, the Ball is to be dancing from 7:30pm to 11:30pm with no catering, drinks, etc. Consequently there has been a significant reduction in ticket prices from previous years.

However, doors will open at 7pm for socialising, admiring of gowns and outfits, etc, plus there will be a break in dancing during the evening. The FDC Hall does not allow food or drinks on the dance floor, but BYO drinks and snacks may be consumed on the outside veranda, so providing Covid restrictions permit it, dancers may bring their own refreshments for before and during the Ball.

Details will be added or updated as planning progresses.

Alternatively come to a Ball or Bush Dance Workshop, or 2nd Saturday dance, and see Mark at the desk for cash sales.

Ticket Prices: Early Bird tickets –
MFS Members, Earthly Delights dancers, and Interstate dancers – $25
Other Adults – $30
Under 18s, Full-time Students and Non-dancing attendees – $15

After 4 September, all prices will increase by $5, and after 22 September by a further $5.

Tickets will be fully refunded should the Ball be cancelled due to Covid restrictions or you cannot attend at short notice due to being in a Covid hotspot.

The DANCE PROGRAM will be made available in due course. Ball dances are being taught at Monday evening Bush Dance Workshops. If further workshops just for Ball dances are scheduled they will be added below.
