The Monaro Folk Society is a non-profit community organisation, here to enhance your enjoyment and personal growth through active participation in the arts, and a range of community and social activities.
We run a variety of regular dance workshops and events as well as participatory music sessions and performance opportunities in Canberra all year round. Even if you are a beginner with no experience you are most welcome to attend these and see what we have to offer. Feel free to contact us for further information.
Due to the current COVID-19 health issue, MFS is suspending all dance events until further notice. For music sessions please contact your organisers as to what may be possible.
The planned 50th Anniversary celebration and Shearer’s Ball at the Yarralumla Woolshed on Saturday 28 March has been postponed, hopefully to still go ahead later in the year. Stay safe all of you!
Cobargo Community Bushfire Recovery Fund
The community of the annual Cobargo festival has been devastated by bushfire . Four local community groups, including the Yuin Folk Club have begun a grassroots recovery fund, independent of other government organisations. MFS is currently looking at ways that we may assist, however if you wish to donate privately please go to this link.
